At ARC, emerging designers are given real opportunities to contribute, ask questions, and grow. We care deeply about mentorship, collaboration, and creating an environment where people feel supported in developing their skills and interests over time. Our projects are varied, complex, and mission-driven, and we believe the best work comes from teams that are engaged, curious, and invested in one another’s success.
We are looking for an Entry-Level Designer who is eager to learn and excited to contribute across a wide range of project types and phases of work. This role is ideal for someone with strong design instincts, curiosity about the profession, and an interest in both the creative and technical aspects of architecture.
You’ll work closely with project teams across the firm, supporting design studies, documentation, visualization, research, and presentations while developing your technical and professional skills through hands-on experience. We value people who ask thoughtful questions, communicate clearly, and enjoy being part of a collaborative design process.
What You’ll Do
Support project teams across multiple phases of design and documentation with a collaborative and curious approach
Contribute to design studies, presentations, and project development through graphic, written, and verbal communication
Assist with architectural drawings, renderings, models, diagrams, and presentation materials
Research, organize, and compile information to support project work and design investigations
Learn and develop proficiency in tools including Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office
Participate in ARC’s iterative design process through exploration of ideas, options, and project attributes
Communicate clearly with team members regarding task status, deadlines, and coordination needs
Participate in office-wide design conversations, reviews, and knowledge-sharing opportunities
Contribute positively to ARC’s collaborative studio culture and team environment
Demonstrate curiosity about ARC’s work, design values, and project pursuit process
What We’re Looking For
Professional degree in Architecture or Interiors
Strong design sensibility and interest in creating meaningful spaces and experiences
Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills
Strong verbal, written, and graphic communication abilities
Good organizational and time management skills
Interest in learning both the creative and technical aspects of architectural practice
Positive attitude, curiosity, and willingness to learn
Ability to work thoughtfully and collaboratively within a team environment
ARC is a 40-person design firm based in Boston, built around the idea that thoughtful design comes from listening, collaboration, and a genuine exchange of ideas. We work across athletics and wellness, education, arts, and science, often on complex projects where relationships and trust matter as much as design.
We are a small firm by choice. That means people are close to the work, close to clients, and close to decision-making. It also means there is real opportunity to shape how things are done. We value people who are curious and creative, not in a performative way, but in how they think, write, and make. The best ideas here tend to come from people who are engaged in the work and willing to explore, test, and refine them alongside others.
